I’m passionate about helping Métis citizens in Saskatchewan access the resources they need to make homeownership a reality. The Métis Nation–Saskatchewan First-Time Home Buyers Program is a great opportunity for Métis citizens looking to purchase their first home.

The program offers financial assistance to Métis citizens purchasing their first home by providing funds for both the down payment and closing costs. This program is designed to make homeownership more accessible and help you overcome the challenge of saving for a down payment.

Program Highlights:

  • $15,000 towards your down payment and $2,500 for closing costs.
  • The contribution is offered as a forgivable loan—you won’t need to repay the amount as long as you live in the home as your primary residence for at least five years.
  • Income eligibility: Your household income must be under $150,000 annually.
  • The FTHB grant is available once in a lifetime, meaning this opportunity can only be used for your first home purchase.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You need to be a registered Métis citizen with Métis Nation–Saskatchewan.
  • You must be a first time home buyer or have not owned a home in the past four years
  • You must be able to qualify for a mortgage through a reputable financial institution (I can help you with this!).
  • The home must be your primary residence for at least five years.
  • You must have no income tax arrears with Canada Revenue Agency.
